Streets of Montreal

So Montreal's been a rather whirlwind experience so far. The desire to explore the city's vicinity going against the need to work with a budget. The Want to paint the town red battling against the Need to do Some Studying. The Desire to eat every single thing in the supermarket (everything that was exorbitant in Singapore is affordable here) vs the Need to be able to fit in one's clothes when one returns home. Throw in a Landlord who defaults on his agreement 3 days before the start of school, and you get...well, a whirlwind experience.

The pictures I'm going to post are from when Xy and I visited St.Denis (Montreal's shopping area) to grab replacement flipflops for me. Photos from Xy's iPhone because it's cumbersome to bring the DSLR out EVERYWHERE. I wanted to take Montreal's streets using my DSLR, but his iPhone's really amazing. Plus I got him to download LOMOCAM. Godsend, I tell you. I can hear photography purists shaking their heads in despair now. Oops.

So we're such gluttons. In Chinatown, we chanced upon a dusty little restaurant, and decided to pop in for an early lunch. Check out the traditional Chinese cutlery. Such items would leave me bored and in want in Singapore, but I love places which take you away from the outside world, and this little restaurant's one of them. Escapism is niice.

Next Stop: Place d'Armes Metro

Montreal's Metro Stations are famous for their art. I aim to visit er... all of them before I leave. Thought I'd create my own art this time. Some vandal scribbled random rubbish on an empty advertising area (you know those with posters lit from behind?) so I pulled xy into the center of the frame and snapped.

La Mouche (French for "the fly") is one of the hottest clubs in Montreal, and with good reason. The place looks like the set of a P.Diddy music video.

Porn Flakes. I have no idea why the city's obsessed with linking Porn and Innocent Food Items. They associate porn with EVERYTHING. From Cotton Candy, to pop corn.. and yes corn flakes.
