I LIVE FOR WEEKENDS

LISTENING TO: Phantom Planet - Raise the Dead

Life. Is. So. Mundane! Get Up, Work, Get Off Work, Get...Home. It doesn't help that everything except the work bit feels like a rush . Partly because I'm trying to secure a job offer. "A Career of a Lifetime". Apparently a winning smile just isn't enough... maybe it looks bloodthirsty to them.

All this industry is taking a toll on my fragile sensibilities. I've lost the will to be creative, and nothing really interests me anymore. This... ennui.. has been taking a toll on my human relationships. Poor people around me. It's like the more effort I put into work, the bitchier and more demanding I become in my personal life. Hahaha. I feel the Kiewcumber's eyes rolling now. BUT IT'S TRUE! > : (

For that reason, weekends provide a welcome and lazy reprieve. And because I'm not achieving enough hedonistic pleasures during the week, my weekends have been pretty much devoted to achieving that balance.

Last weekend, the craving was for Nasi Lemak. And since Eugene (of SMUX) was leaving for the Kenyan wilderness, xy and I met at the airport to see him off!...Only to find that.. they were at Tampines One. WHICH MEANT THAT I GOT TO INDULGE MY CRAVING AT CHANGI VILLAGE! :)

FISH

FOWL

Not bad, but one has tasted better.... and at Jurong, no less. Maybe a decade of living in an industrial area has corrupted my tastebuds so I can't taste the hidden flavours in the above.

That evening, we visited an Izakaya hidden in Sunset Way. Kazu was better, but this place was supposedly authentic (OR SO MY JAPANESE WAITER SAID), so it's..forgiven I suppose.........

If Kazu deserved 4 of 5 stars, then this place would definitely get 3.5, for I found them dishes to be nothing short of delectable. Unfortunately, I also found them to be exorbitantly priced, and therefore they yielded less value per unit.

IF YOU GO, please try their cod :) Didn't manage to snap photos of it, because by the time I remembered to, I was licking the last bits of gravy off my chopsticks.

Like we were under a flowering tree

Here's to many more weekends like these!
