Lazy Saturday Mornings
Sunday morning rain is falling

Fell victim to a flu bug recently! Definitely because I've had one too many Frolick froyos, and wayyy too much hawker food. And been sleeping late too. Plus there were farewell drinks at work, and Beer+Tequila and Illness have..counter-synergistic effects on the person. I'm /sniff/ still /sniff/ working hard to /sniff/ regain my ability to breathe in air-conditioned rooms.
But not so sick that I couldn't cab (not healthy enough to brave the weekend crowd on the train) over to cxy's to clean out the hamster cage! (Look how responsible I am!)
Our hamsters are really cute now, by the way. Apart from their much more prominent genitalia, they've developed the nicest coats, and are now much more tame, and contemplate life (or their next sunflower seed) while sitting in your hand. And they won't shit all over the place now. Kudos to CXY for that... heheh

Anyhow, much as I love this internship and its challenges, it can become too much. And when the state media speaks glowingly of work-life harmony (closer than the work-life balance they touted not so long ago), one gets a sense that..this might never end, and then lose enthusiasm for everything else, except for increasing the number of zeros in one's bank account.
Which is why... thank god for friends like CXY's, who organize trip's like Crabbing at Changi Coastal Walk! The heat was infernal, and there were no crabs... and I was really grouchy because I was ill, and therefore I've got no photos from that. But hey, in retrospect, now that my memories have been coloured by nostalgia, it was a pretty cool afternoon. Very peaceful, and positively glowing with the comfort of friendships more than a decade old. Theirs. Not mine. Made me yearn for my own friends, actually. (WHICH IS WHY I WILL BE MEETING JAL NEXT FRIDAY.. :D)
Also made me think of Chinese textbook stories, where 小明 and friends would do something productive on a holiday, and go for a picnic with many friends... and it would be amazing, they'd see fishes, and have great weather, and they'd all go home before sunset because it was the right thing to do.
But I digress! Spotted a staircase amidst the leaves, and took a little walk. Found this...treasure trove of hot angmohs. Why jostle with the weekend crowds in Orchard, when the hot (and moneyed) ones are all out at the Changi Sailing Club? Gold diggers beware though, some of these come with children......
