Zhong Cek

On a random note, visited my aunt yesterday, and the Mother was discussing the family's deceased cook. (Everyone called him Zhong Cek, and as a kid, I used to disturb his sleep by seeking him out and disturbing him.) And then she told us his real name. Haha I'd always assumed his last name was Zhong, but no, it's really Lim. Hahaha. Which means that I've been offering my prayers at temples to the wrong person all this time......

And I wasn't alone. My uncle and the family's helper (in service for >30 years and counting) believed his name was "Zhong" too. Everyone was very surprised that his name wasn't Zhong, and the Mother was a little bit bemused.

Zhong Cek was all wrinkly and ancient, and he'd get really angry when he didn't get to nap. But he's dead now, so I guess nobody can disturb him from his Eternal Nap now... :b

I've no idea why the family had a cook when they had a helper....... but oh well. He has passed on! Rest in Peace, Uncle Lim.
